What is a blind embossing / printing?
A classic blind print is a relief protruding above the surface of the paper. It is created by the pressure between the positive and negative dies. It is visible from both sides of the paper. On the side on which the blind print is presented it protrudes upwards. On the opposite side, it is pushed in and laterally inverted. The plate used to produce it cannot be used for foil stamping
Imprinted blind. For thicker or layered papers, on the other hand, the relief can be pressed into the paper stock. It is usually a little less pronounced than the relief protruding, but it depends primarily on the thickness of the paper and whether it can be seen from the opposite side of the paper or whether it is undesirable.
Blind printing is mainly used as a decorative element for more luxurious and premium prints. The possibilities of its use as an elegant design element are abundant.
Blind embossing can be combined with foil stamping to create a spectacular 3D relief in gold, silver or other metallic colours. In order to realize blind printing, a plate must be produced as a one-time expense. This then remains for further use.
